Ursula Rakova, a leading advocate for greater investment in women-led and gender inclusive relocation policies and resources to support women’s leadership in meeting climate justice goals is the Executive Director of Tulele Pesa. The organisation was established in 2007 in response to the relocation challenges faced by her community in the Carteret Islands in Bougainville.
Ursula highlights the non-economic loss and damage including the erosion of shorelines, frequent storm surges, and saltwater intrusion affecting food crops and the organisation’s response through mangrove reforestation, leadership training, and storytelling to preserve cultural identity.
